Everyone has high expectations of their vacation. That’s one of rare opportunities when everything is as we wish. In that regard, we always pay a special attention to choosing a destination that will suit us well. Someone ranks sightseeing the highest, while others give precedence to enjoying a beach. To many people, entertainment and shopping are nothing less important. And Halkidiki, Greece, has all these assets.
Halkidiki sightseeing
Halkidiki, Northern Greece, is not a very big region. In general, you can get from one side of the region to another in 2 hours. And discover beautiful nature, interesting museums and historic landmarks along the way.
Dense forests, either deciduous or evergreen, dominate the Sithonia peninsula and Central Halkidiki. Hills, even mountains, with great hiking opportunities, are features of these areas. The Toroneos Bay, with its marvelous coastlines, is ideal for sailing. Finally, a sail along Mount Athos reveals monasteries perched on mountainsides or atop them.
Incredible beaches of the Halkidiki region
This beautiful region is among the top summertime destinations in Greece. And incredible beaches and seaside are among the main reasons for that. Sandy and pebble beaches are often framed by greenery, while the waters are turquoise. In the Kassandra peninsula, great beaches are in the eastern resorts or next to them for the most part. In Sithonia, they are all around the peninsula and require either a short or a prolonged drive to be accessed.
Entertainment
Kassandra is the main, and in many ways the only, entertainment hub of Halkidiki. Beach bars line beaches on the eastern side of the peninsula. Nightclubs are available in resorts, most notably in Afitos, Kallithea, Hanioti and Pefkohori.
The nightlife season here starts in late May and lasts until September.
